Woodhead Publishing Limited was established in 1989 by Martin Woodhead to publish technical books and journals. Martin Woodhead started his first business, Woodhead-Faulkner (Publishers) Limited, in 1972 at the age of 27 and then sold it to a US publisher, Simon & Schuster / Prentice Hall, in 1987.
The company has expanded steadily and is now a mid-sized publisher of high level books and journals in the niche fields of materials, civil engineering, structural engineering, mechanical engineering, textiles, food science / technology, environment, finance and investment. Approximately 50 new books are published each year and there are 25 employees. Woodhead Publishing's books describe the latest technologies available in each of the subjects covered. All titles are produced quickly, to high editorial and production standards, so that they are as up to date as possible on publication.
